As part of the Sudzucker group, we are also part of a Group-wide sustainability programme 'Growing in Balance'.

In everything we do, we aim to strike a balance between economic, ecological and social issues, as well as the various expectations of our stakeholders, which we actively include in our efforts.

'Growing in Balance' focuses on 8 impact areas, including;

•Responsible sourcing
•Sustainable farming

For each impact areas, we define and implement group-wide targets and specific measures for achieving targets.

 

Driving Positive Change

In line with the 'Growing in Balance' strategy, Portion Solutions focuses on 3 key areas where we can drive the biggest positive environmental change:

  • Packaging & Waste Reduction
  • Responsible Sourcing

We have developed effective & measureable initiatives to reduce our emissions, reduce our consumption of packaging and production of waste materials and minimizing our impact on the environment.

 

Our Key Achievements & Initiatives

Emissions Reduction

  • 43% reduction in Scope 1 & 2 emissions since 2018
  • 65% reduction in Scope 3 (reporting on 5 categories) emissions since 2018
  • Switched to 100% renewable electricity in all owned operations
    • Closing reporting gaps and extend to reporting all Scope 3 categories this year.

       

      Packaging & Waste Reduction

    • 70% of our waste from owned operations recycled
    • 0% to landfill in all owned operations
    • 17% reduction in outer case waste
    • Identified materials with the aim of making 80% of our primary packaging recyclable within next 2 years

    • Working with PPG group on pan-European projects to remove plastics from portions entirely (including development of new packaging materials)

       

      Responsible Sourcing

    • All paper we source is FSC certified
    • All our sugar is British sourced
    • All applicable products are RSPO certified

    • Q1 2026 Buyer membership of Sedex to allow for supply chain analysis; from this we will build clear objectives and strategy
